DHAKA, May 19, (V7N) – The High Court (HC) today scheduled May 26th to deliver its verdict on a writ petition challenging the legality of several recommendations put forth by the Women's Affairs Reform Commission in its report.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi set the date after concluding the hearing on the petition. Advocate Rowshan Ali presented the plea before the court, while Additional Attorney General Barrister Aneek Rushd Haque represented the state.

Supreme Court lawyer Rowshan Ali filed the writ petition on May 4th, arguing that certain recommendations made by the commission contradict the constitution, the values of the country's religious population, and Sharia law.

The three relevant ministries and the head of the Women's Affairs Reform Commission have been named as respondents in the writ petition.
