DHAKA,, May 8 (V7N) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today called for a collaborative effort involving all government and non-government organizations, media personnel, and civil society members to combat the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases.
He made this appeal in a message issued on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day, which Bangladesh is observing for the eighth consecutive year.
Professor Yunus highlighted the growing number of thalassemia patients in Bangladesh, attributing it to the risk of both partners in a marriage carrying the gene for the disease. He emphasized the importance of individuals being aware of their carrier status for thalassemia.
The Chief Adviser stated that the current interim government is implementing various initiatives to improve the health sector with the goal of creating a healthy and capable population.
He further affirmed the interim government's commitment to reforming the health sector to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.
