Dhaka, May 19 (V7N) — A fire that broke out at Kalmilta Bazar near the Bijoy Sarani intersection in the capital was brought under control early Tuesday after nearly two hours of firefighting efforts.

According to the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, a report of the fire was received at around 5:14 am. Shortly afterward, the first firefighting unit arrived at the scene and began rescue and fire suppression operations.

A total of 10 fire service units worked to contain the blaze and finally brought the situation under control at approximately 7:00 am.

Authorities said the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be immediately determined. Further investigation is underway.
