Dhaka, Dec 23 (V7N)- A fire broke out on the 6th floor of a 14-storey building named Haji Tower in the Babubazar area of Armanitola, Old Dhaka, early Tuesday morning.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence media wing, the fire started at around 6:40 am. Firefighters reached the spot within five minutes of receiving the alert. After nearly 40 minutes of operation, the blaze was brought under control at around 7:20 am.

A total of nine fire service units took part in the firefighting operation. These included two units from Sadarghat Fire Station, two from Sutrapur Fire Station, and five units from Siddiqbazar Fire Station.

The extent of damage to goods inside the building has not yet been determined. No information regarding casualties has been reported so far, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Fire service officials said further details will be available after an investigation.
