Dhaka, Dec 17 (V7N) — A fire that broke out at a plastic godown in the Chairman Ghat area of Lalbagh in Dhaka has been brought under control, the Fire Service and Civil Defence confirmed on Wednesday afternoon. No casualties have been reported so far.

Deputy Director Mohammad Saleh Uddin briefed reporters, saying the fire erupted around 1:30 pm, and 11 fire service units were dispatched to the scene. Initially, the area was covered in thick black smoke, and local residents helped contain the blaze before the fire service arrived.

The cause of the fire, the extent of damage, and any casualties are yet to be fully assessed. Eyewitnesses suggested that the fire may have originated from a gas cylinder leak in a building located behind the godown, which is estimated to be 18-20 years old.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause and assess any potential structural damage.
