Dhaka, Nov 26 (V7N) — As dawn broke over the Karail slum on Wednesday, the full extent of Tuesday night’s devastating fire became painfully clear. Survivors, exhausted after battling the blaze throughout the night, found their homes reduced to ashes.
According to the Fire Service, the fire was brought under control at 10:35 pm on Tuesday (November 25). But by then, the flames had already consumed almost everything in the densely populated settlement.
Although several organisations and political parties have provided assistance, victims say the support is far from sufficient. With nothing left standing except charred concrete, many families are now living under the open sky in inhumane conditions.
Residents continue to search through the ruins, hoping to recover whatever little they can. But the tragedy has left them in deep uncertainty, as most have lost all their belongings. Many expressed frustration that the relief provided does not match the scale of their needs.
The affected families now face an uncertain future as they await more effective support and long-term rehabilitation measures.
