Beirut, Mar 23 (V7N) – The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have destroyed a major bridge in southern Lebanon, escalating the ongoing conflict in the region.

According to reports from the Associated Press, the Qasmia Bridge over the Litani River was completely demolished on Sunday. The demolition follows orders from Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who reportedly instructed the destruction of all bridges along the river and homes of Lebanese residents living near the Israeli border.

The Israeli military has also conducted frequent airstrikes across Lebanon since the start of its ongoing conflict with Iran, targeting both strategic infrastructure and alleged militant positions.

The Lebanese government cited an earlier incident in which an Israeli was killed during an attack originating from Lebanese territory, which it said prompted retaliatory measures.

The destruction of the Qasmia Bridge is expected to further disrupt transportation and access in southern Lebanon, compounding humanitarian and logistical challenges for residents in the affected areas.

The situation highlights the intensifying hostilities in the region, with both sides engaged in a cycle of attacks and counterattacks that have raised international concerns about regional stability.
