Eura,  May 18 (V7N) – Five people lost their lives in a mid-air collision between two helicopters near Eura airport in Finland on Saturday. The helicopters crashed shortly after taking off together from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

According to the flight plan, one helicopter was carrying two people, while the other had three passengers. Both helicopters were headed to Paikäjärvi, located a few kilometers from the crash site.

The Finnish intelligence agency’s chief inspector Johannes Sirila confirmed the deaths, stating that all five people on board were killed in the incident.

Reuters reported that the passengers were businessmen traveling for work.

Eyewitness Antti Marjanen, quoted by Finnish newspaper Iltalehti, described the collision, saying one helicopter struck the other mid-flight. “One fell like a rock and the other fell slowly,” he said, adding that he did not hear any noise during the crash.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
