Gazi Group Cricket Club has kept their hopes alive in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Super League race following a convincing 130-run victory over Brother Union, achieved via the DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern) method at BKSP-3 ground.

In this crucial match, Gazi Group chose to bat first and posted a formidable total of 344-7 in their allotted overs. Habibur Rahman Sohan played a blazing innings, scoring 81 off just 55 balls, including nine fours and five sixes. Sabbir Hossain Sikdar contributed with 74 runs, while Anisul Islam and Al-Amin Junior both made quick-fire fifties, scoring 65 and 64 respectively.

After a rain delay, Brother Union was given a revised target of 309 runs to win in 41 overs. However, they fell short and were bowled out for 178 in 40.3 overs, with Abdul Gaffar Saqlain starring for Gazi Group with figures of 4-34. Opener Abdul Mazid top-scored for Brother Union with 51 runs.

Meanwhile, in the day's other match at BKSP-3 ground, Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club secured a narrow victory over City Club by five runs (DLS method). Rupganj posted 297-8 batting first, with captain Shamsur Rahman Shuvo leading from the front with a splendid century (106 off 93 balls). Abdullah Al Mamun supported him well with 81 runs.

In response, City Club was set a target of 266 runs to win in 41 overs but could only manage 260-8. Arafat Sunny Junior was the standout bowler for Rupganj, claiming 4-32 with his left-arm spin.

Despite their victories, both Rupganj Tigers and City Club were already eliminated from the DPL Super League race. However, Gazi Group's win has kept them in contention, and they will be hoping for a favorable outcome in their final match to secure a spot in the six-team Super League phase.
