Zurich, July 31 (V7N)- Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes is under investigation by FIFA following a post-match brawl at the FIFA World Cup final and could face an international suspension of up to nine matches if found guilty.
According to FIFA's disciplinary proceedings, Paredes is accused of displaying aggressive behavior toward opposing players on three separate occasions during the incident. The organization's Disciplinary Committee is reviewing the allegations.
Several other members of the Argentina camp have also come under investigation, including defenders Nahuel Molina and Thiago Almada, as well as assistant coach Roberto Ayala, over alleged disciplinary violations during the same incident.
On the Spanish side, midfielder Gavi is also being investigated for alleged unsporting conduct.
In addition, FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Argentine Football Association over several alleged breaches, including violations of World Cup final security protocols, discriminatory chants from the stands, and the display of political banners on the field.
FIFA said the final disciplinary decisions will be announced after reviewing written explanations and evidence submitted by the football associations of both Argentina and Spain.
