Barcelona, May 17 (V7N) — FC Barcelona ended their final home match of the Spanish La Liga season with an emphatic victory over Real Betis on Sunday, maintaining a perfect home record in the league campaign.
The Catalan giants secured victory at Camp Nou with Brazilian winger Raphinha scoring twice in an entertaining encounter. The match also marked the final appearance at Camp Nou for Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Barcelona took the lead in the 28th minute when Raphinha converted a brilliant free-kick. The hosts dominated the opening half and carried a 1-0 advantage into the break.
The Brazilian winger doubled Barcelona’s lead early in the second half before Isco reduced the deficit for Betis from the penalty spot in the 69th minute.
However, Barcelona quickly restored control as João Cancelo scored five minutes later from an assist by Pedri, sealing another home victory for the Catalans.
Meanwhile, arch-rivals Real Madrid also secured a win in La Liga after defeating Sevilla FC 1-0.
Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute. French star Kylian Mbappé, returning from injury in the second half, also found the net, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
Despite registering seven shots on target, Sevilla failed to break through Madrid’s defense as Los Blancos held on for a narrow victory.
