Birmingham, May 15 (V7N) – Liverpool suffered a disappointing defeat in the English Premier League (EPL) as they went down 4–2 against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Friday night.
Villa Strike First
The home side took control of the match in the first half when Morgan Rodgers broke the deadlock in the 41st minute with a well-taken finish. Aston Villa went into halftime leading 1–0.
Second-Half Drama
Liverpool responded early in the second half through Virgil van Dijk, who equalized in the 51st minute. However, the momentum quickly shifted back to Villa.
Ollie Watkins restored the lead in the 56th minute and added his second goal in the 72nd minute, extending Villa’s advantage to 3–1. In the 88th minute, John McGinn added a fourth goal to seal the win.
Van Dijk scored again in stoppage time, but it was only a consolation as Liverpool fell short 4–2.
