Dhaka, Oct 27 (V7N)- The Bangladesh women’s football team is set to play its second and final friendly match against Thailand today, Monday (October 27) at 5:00 pm Bangladesh time.
The match comes as Bangladesh returns to international football after a three-month break with a tour of Thailand. Although Thailand is ranked 51 places higher in FIFA rankings, head coach Peter James Butler remains confident about Bangladesh’s chances of winning.
In the first friendly match held on Friday (October 24) in Bangkok, Bangladesh lost 3-0 to Thailand. The match is part of the team’s preparation for the Asia Cup, in which Bangladesh will participate for the first time in March.
The friendly matches against Thailand are seen as crucial preparation ahead of Bangladesh’s home three-nation tournament. Bangladesh’s biggest defeat in women’s football history came in 2013, when they lost 9-0 to Thailand in the Asian Cup qualifiers.
