Barcelona, Aug 22 (V7N) – Barcelona right-back Jules Conde has expressed his belief that teammate Lamine Yamal is the frontrunner for this year’s Ballon d’Or, citing the young winger’s key contributions to Barcelona’s treble-winning season. Conde made the comments on the day he extended his contract with Barcelona until 2030.

Conde praised both Yamal and French forward Ousmane Dembele, who played a pivotal role in PSG’s domestic treble, but singled out Yamal as particularly deserving of the prestigious award.

“Both are outstanding players,” Conde said. “However, I would like to say that Yamal deserves the Ballon d’Or. He has had a phenomenal season. Of course, there are other players in the race too.”

Conde, who joined Barcelona in 2022, played an important role in La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup victories last season. The French defender has scored 7 goals and provided 18 assists for the Catalans, establishing himself as a key figure in the squad.

Speaking about his contract extension, Conde said, “From the beginning, my dream has only been to win titles. This time is no exception. I am very proud of the new contract with Barcelona; at the same time, the responsibility has increased. With the team we have and our performance last season, the Champions League should be our goal.”

Conde’s new deal ensures that he remains a mainstay at Camp Nou until 2030, highlighting Barcelona’s long-term plans around both him and their rising star, Lamine Yamal.
