Tehran, June 20 (V7N) – Brigadier General Majid Khadami has been appointed as the new head of the Intelligence Division of Iran’s elite military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The appointment comes amid heightened regional tensions and increased global scrutiny of Iran's military leadership.

The decision was finalized on Thursday by IRGC’s top commander, Major General Mohammad Pakpour, according to a report published by the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

General Khadami succeeds in a critical role at a time when the IRGC continues to play a central role in Iran's internal security and foreign operations, particularly in the context of its ongoing conflict with Israel and mounting international pressure. The Intelligence Division of the IRGC is one of the most powerful arms of the Iranian security apparatus, overseeing both domestic surveillance and foreign intelligence operations.

While little public information is available about Khadami’s previous assignments, analysts believe the appointment signals a strategic shift in Iran's intelligence priorities, potentially reflecting new operational or regional security goals.

This leadership change also comes just days after increased Israeli airstrikes over Tehran and a broader military mobilization in the region, further underscoring the importance of experienced leadership within Iran’s security infrastructure.
