Dhaka, Aug 26 (V7N) – The National Citizens Party (NCP) has strongly condemned and protested the attack on Mahfuz Alam, the interim government’s Information and Broadcasting Advisor, at the Bangladesh Consulate in New York, USA.

In a press release issued Tuesday, the NCP alleged that fugitive leaders and activists of the Awami League attempted to attack Mahfuz Alam during an event marking the anniversary of the July Uprising. The party further claimed that attackers also vandalized parts of the consulate office, describing it as a direct and violent assault on a state institution.

The statement said, “By attacking this event, the Awami League has once again revealed its fascist, terrorist and mafia character. They have not only denied the July massacre but also continued their terrorist activities internationally.”

The NCP called on both the interim government and the US government to launch an immediate investigation into the incident and take appropriate legal action against those responsible. It also criticized the interim government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for not issuing a formal protest even after nearly 24 hours had passed.

The press release further linked the consulate attack with what it described as a broader pattern of “Awami terrorism and conspiracy”, including the normalization attempts of the Peelkhana massacre, Shapla massacre, and July massacre, as well as the establishment of the Awami League office in Kolkata.

Finally, the NCP urged the US government to designate the Awami League as a terrorist organization, while calling on the Bangladeshi diaspora to provide information and evidence of such activities to both the interim government and US authorities.
