Dhaka, Sept 24 (V7N) – The capacity-building programme on the use of the electronic Project Management Information System (e-PMIS) is continuing for officials of different stakeholder organizations, with a training session held today for officials of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) and the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) at the BPPA conference room.
A total of 20 officials from IMED and BPPA participated in the first batch of the training. A total of five batches of training will be organized for IMED and BPPA officials. Earlier, training for four of the five batches of ministry/division users of e-PMIS had been completed with 80 persons.
Abu Sayed Md Kamruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BPPA and Secretary to the Government, inaugurated the training programme this morning.
BPPA developed the e-PMIS system for IMED with the objective of digitizing the monitoring and evaluation of Annual Development Programme (ADP) projects and ensuring greater transparency, accountability and efficiency. The system provides real-time data and status updates, as well as a centralized repository for project plans, schedules, budgets, allocations, expenditures and field visits.
In his inaugural speech, the BPPA CEO urged IMED officials to ensure that project directors provide accurate and timely data on their respective projects. He said that proper and timely submission of project data would facilitate the preparation of Project Completion Reports (PCRs), while also strengthening project monitoring and planning of field visits.
The CEO observed that if the physical works of projects could be completed three months ahead of their scheduled completion dates, data collection and updating would become easier. An updated dashboard, he added, would then provide a more transparent picture of project implementation and outcomes.
