Pabna, Sept 28 (V7N) – Young Bangladeshi innovator Fiha Hussain has won a silver medal at the World Invention Competition and Exhibition (WICE) 2026, an international innovation competition held in Malaysia.
Fiha received the silver medal in the Applied Physics and Engineering category for developing SolarEffix, an artificial intelligence-based system designed to improve the efficiency and performance of solar power plants.
Fiha is the son of Sajjad Hossain and Farzana Hossain of Jela Para in Pabna municipal town.
SolarEffix, titled “AI Based Fault Detection and Performance Monitoring System for Solar Farms,” was developed with the aim of addressing challenges in solar power generation and promoting the use of renewable energy.
In large solar farms, electricity generation can decline due to dust accumulation, shading, excessive temperatures and wiring or connection problems. SolarEffix uses artificial intelligence to continuously monitor individual solar panels, identify potential faults at an early stage, pinpoint affected panels and provide guidance for necessary technical maintenance.
Before reaching the international round, Fiha competed against more than 250 innovative projects at the national level and was selected as a winner to represent Bangladesh internationally. He subsequently took part in several national-level boot camps and training programmes to prepare for the competition.
Fiha travelled to Malaysia on September 19, 2026, as a member of the Bangladeshi delegation.
The competition was held at SEGi University in Malaysia, with more than 400 projects from over 12 countries, including China, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Around 300 projects were displayed at the physical exhibition.
Fiha secured the silver medal after competing against around 50 strong international projects in his category.
Expressing his reaction after receiving the award while holding Bangladesh’s national flag, Fiha said he was proud and delighted to represent Bangladesh on the international stage as a young innovator from Pabna.
He said he aims to further develop SolarEffix and make a significant contribution to Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector in the future.
Fiha dedicated the achievement to the people of Pabna and expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his international journey.
