Natore, Aug 05 (V7N) — A mobile court has fined a man Tk50,000 for allegedly producing and selling counterfeit and unlicensed tile cleaner under the brand name ‘Vixol’ at an illegal factory in Naldanga Upazila of Natore district.
The operation was conducted on Monday afternoon at a house in Bashila Biljoani village, where authorities seized a large quantity of adulterated materials and fake products used in the manufacturing process.
The mobile court was led by Executive Magistrate and Naldanga Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shamim Hossain.
According to police and mobile court officials, Amirul Islam, son of local resident Iman Ali, had allegedly been manufacturing and marketing counterfeit tile cleaner from his home premises for an extended period.
Acting on a tip-off, the mobile court conducted a raid and found evidence of unauthorised production activities. Amirul Islam was fined under Sections 43 and 44 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
The court also sentenced him to six months of non-rigorous imprisonment in default of payment of the fine. However, he avoided imprisonment after paying the penalty immediately.
During the raid, authorities seized 396 bottles of counterfeit tile cleaner and 13 containers holding approximately 500 litres of hydrochloric acid (HCl), which were allegedly being used in the production process. They also recovered around 500 empty bottles intended for packaging the fake products.
The seized empty bottles were destroyed at the scene, according to officials.
Executive Magistrate Shamim Hossain said authorities would continue conducting regular operations against the production and distribution of counterfeit, adulterated and unlicensed products to protect consumers and public health.
