SAVAR, Aug 4, (V7N) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque today called upon the youth to take a leading role in building a peaceful, disciplined and humane society by upholding social responsibility, moral values and environmental awareness along with sports.
He was speaking as chief guest at the "Tiger Run 2026" mini marathon held at Jahangirnagar University marking World Tiger Day, according to a press release.
The state minister said young people must play a responsible role in preventing anarchy and advancing national development.
"Nation-building is not the responsibility of university authorities alone. Every citizen has duties to the state and society. We want to build a Bangladesh where peace prevails and none can create chaos," he said.
He said the enthusiasm of participants showed the commitment and sense of responsibility required to take the country forward, adding that youth will be the driving force of a healthy and progressive society.
Highlighting the aim of the event, Aminul said similar programmes should be organized at universities across the country to create awareness about wildlife conservation, the Sundarbans and environmental protection.
Such initiatives, he noted, are not limited to physical fitness but also help inculcate moral values, social responsibility and humanitarian ideals among youths and promote positive social change.
Reiterating the government's commitment to address educated unemployment, the state minister said priority is being given to skill development, vocational training and greater involvement of youths in social organizations to generate sustainable employment.
"Our goal is that no educated youth remains unemployed. We are focusing not just on producing graduates but also on equipping them with employable skills," he said.
Welcoming a voluntary organization's initiative to engage around 25,000 volunteers, he said youth participation is vital for national development and building a compassionate society.
In response to Jahangirnagar University's request for better sports infrastructure, he said the government would consider the proposal positively upon receiving a formal application from the university authorities.
He thanked the organizers and expressed hope that such programmes would continue to motivate youths to take part in constructive activities and contribute to building a humane, developed and prosperous Bangladesh.
