DHAKA, June 18 (V7N) — British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh’s aviation sector once the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is launched.

Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Hossain Shadhin said the envoy hoped that relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom would further strengthen under the current government.

During the meeting, the British side proposed cooperation in technical education and vocational training, alongside discussions on expanding bilateral trade and British investment in Bangladesh to generate new employment opportunities.

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir were present at the meeting, which highlighted the growing scope of Bangladesh–UK partnership in aviation, education, and trade.

This courtesy call reflects the UK’s interest in aligning with Bangladesh’s infrastructure expansion, particularly the upcoming third terminal, while also broadening cooperation in human resource development and economic growth.
