Narsingdi, Mar 23 (V7N) – Bangladesh’s Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul said the current government is taking significant steps to advance the country’s health sector and ensure healthcare reaches every doorstep.
Speaking at a public reception in Shibpur, Narsingdi on Sunday afternoon, the Minister emphasized his commitment to completing 100% of healthcare services nationwide. Quoting a poem, he said, “I will be satisfied on the day when all patients in Bangladesh are physically calm.”
Addressing the challenges in the sector, Bakul highlighted the ongoing electricity shortage in the country. He criticized previous administrations, saying, “The previous government looted the electricity sector in the name of quick rental. How are we maintaining electricity? Due to the shortage, our patients suffer, there are problems in the operation theater, and mothers in labor rooms suffer.”
He also outlined plans to improve medical education and infrastructure, noting that “If you want to build a medical college, you have to build a hospital, otherwise how will students study?” He announced that the 100-bed Sadar Hospital in Narsingdi will be upgraded to 250 beds to better serve patients.
The reception was presided over by Manjur Elahi, with other local leaders present, including District BNP Vice President Tofazzal Hossain, Sardar Tofazzal Hossain Liaquat, Shibpur Upazila BNP President Abul Haris Rikabder, and General Secretary Abu Salek Rikabder.
The event underscored the government’s focus on improving healthcare services and hospital infrastructure while addressing ongoing challenges in electricity supply and patient care.
