Bagerhat, Aug 30 (V7N) – A torchlight procession and protest rally were held in Morelganj, Bagerhat on Saturday night, condemning the attack on Nurul Haq Nur, President of the Gono Adhikar Parishad’s central committee. The rally demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible for the assault on the prominent activist.
 
The procession, which began at 8:30 PM near the Nabbirashi Bus Stand, ended with a road meeting addressed by leaders and activists from the Gono Adhikar Parishad’s local chapter. Among the prominent speakers were Gazi Abdul Aziz, Vice-President of the Morelganj Upazila Gono Adhikar Parishad, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Organizing Secretary, and Raju Mallik, Publicity Secretary of the Youth Wing.
 
In addition, Moinul Islam, Senior Vice-President of the District Youth Rights Council, and Abid Al Shaharia, Joint Secretary of the District Students Union, also delivered speeches during the road meeting.
 
The protesters expressed their anger over the recent attack on Nurul Haq Nur, a leading voice for political and civil rights in Bangladesh, and called for swift justice for the perpetrators. They also raised concerns about political violence and the suppression of free speech in the country.
 
The rally and protest were peaceful, and the organizers vowed to continue their efforts to secure justice for Nur and all victims of political violence.
