Meherpur, Sept 20 (V7N) – The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over 18 Bangladeshi nationals to the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) at the Kazipur border in Gangni Upazila on Friday night.
The handover took place around 10:30 p.m. near Main Pillar No. 147 of the Kazipur border. The group, consisting of men and women from various districts of Bangladesh, had been residing in India illegally at different times.
According to Subedar Md. Shahabuddin, Camp Commander of Kazipur BGB, the individuals were released from jails in India. The Indian police first handed them over to BSF Company Commander A.C. Sunil Kumar Ghosh at Vijaypur Matlpra. Subsequently, through a flag meeting, the BSF officially transferred them to Gangni Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nabid Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Police Station Bani Israel, and the Kazipur BGB unit.
The handover was conducted in coordination between Indian and Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safe return of the individuals to Bangladesh.
