Dhaka, Aug 07 (V7N) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Police has taken Sumaiya Jafrin, wife of Major Sadiq, into custody over her alleged involvement in a secret guerrilla training operation involving leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations.

DB sources confirmed the detention on Wednesday (August 6). Sumaiya Jafrin is accused of actively participating in the covert training sessions allegedly conducted by her husband, Major Sadiq, at a convention hall located near the Bashundhara residential area in the capital.

According to DB officials, the pair were allegedly involved in instructing ruling party activists in guerrilla tactics, raising serious concerns amid an already volatile political environment. The Bangladesh Army earlier took Major Sadiq into custody for his role in the incident. Following his detention, police apprehended his wife in connection with the same case.

The matter came to light after DB conducted a raid on the convention center, where they arrested 22 individuals affiliated with the now-banned Chhatra League, Awami League, and other associated groups. A case regarding the incident has been filed with Bhatara Police Station.

Authorities have yet to release detailed information on the content of the training or the long-term objectives of the operation. Investigations are ongoing.
