Dhaka, May 07 (V7N) – Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice President of the National Consensus Commission, has called for all stakeholders to come together on fundamental reform issues to build national consensus. He emphasized that establishing such consensus is a shared responsibility, not just that of the commission.

Speaking on Wednesday (May 7) at the second day of discussions with Nagorik Oikya at the LD Hall of the National Parliament, Dr. Riaz said, “Political parties will have their own ideologies, but we must agree on fundamental issues. Reaching a consensus is not only the job of the commission—everyone has to contribute.”

He reiterated that the commission is actively working to create an environment of agreement, but urged political parties to engage in dialogue among themselves as well.

During the session, Nagorik Oikya General Secretary Shahidullah Kaiser noted that the number of reform proposals agreed upon had increased from 114 to 118 following the first day's discussion. He assured full cooperation from his party in achieving a national consensus. “We will do everything possible to support this process,” Kaiser added.

The ongoing dialogue, which aims to resolve political polarization through structured reform proposals, is a key initiative under the interim government’s push for democratic stabilization.
