Dhaka, Aug 24 (V7N) – Police have arrested controversial content creator Touhid Afridi in connection with a murder case linked to the recent anti-discrimination movement.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained Afridi during a special operation in Barisal on Sunday. He is listed as the 11th accused in the case filed at Jatrabari Police Station.

The main accused in the case include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, and former Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Mamun, among others. In total, 25 individuals have been named, along with 150 unidentified suspects.

On August 17, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) arrested Afridi’s father, Nasir Uddin Sathi, chairman of MyTV, who is the 22nd accused in the same case.

The arrest follows an ultimatum issued on August 17 by the July Revolutionary Alliance (JRA), demanding Afridi’s immediate detention. In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the group alleged that Afridi had long been involved in political financing, including support for the ruling party’s campaign on August 15 in previous years.
