Rajshahi, Oct 08 (V7N) – Seven students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) have been nominated for the Prime Minister Gold Medal, an award introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to recognise outstanding academic achievement.

A total of 469 students from universities across Bangladesh have been nominated for the award after the UGC reviewed applications submitted by students for the 2019, 2020 and 2021 academic years.

Of the seven RUET students, three were nominated for the 2019 academic year, one for 2020 and three for 2021.

The three former RUET students nominated for 2019 are Sumaiya Tabassum of the Department of Civil Engineering, Miftahul Mobin Chowdhury of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mohiuddin Ahmed of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Tamanna Sultana Swarna, a former student of the Department of Architecture, was nominated for the 2020 academic year.

The three students nominated for 2021 are Shahinur Alam of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Md Mainul Islam of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Zahid Hasan of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.

RUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr S M Abdur Razzak congratulated the nominated students on behalf of the university and praised their academic achievement.
