DHAKA, June 16, (V7N) – The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) hosted its Freshers' Reception for the academic session 2025-26, welcoming 955 newly-admitted students, including 133 military students, to its 15 BSc engineering, science, and architecture departments. The reception ceremony was held on June 14 at Shaheed Yamin Auditorium in Mirpur Cantonment, according to a release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.

Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, attended as chief guest. He congratulated the new students and urged them to pursue academic excellence through discipline, innovation, and continuous learning. He stressed the importance of participation in co-curricular activities such as robotics, cybersecurity, cultural and literary pursuits, debate, and aeronautics to develop leadership qualities.

The programme began with the national anthem, followed by a presentation highlighting the institute's academic and administrative activities. Current students shared their campus experiences, while some newly-admitted students expressed their aspirations. Several parents voiced satisfaction with MIST's disciplined and supportive educational environment.

Commandant of MIST Maj Gen Md Hakimuzzaman, along with deans, department heads, faculty members, staff, parents, and students attended the ceremony. The event served as an orientation to help new students transition into university life and understand the opportunities available at the institution.

MIST, one of Bangladesh's premier technical institutions, continues to produce skilled engineers and scientists who contribute to both military and civilian sectors. The freshers' reception marked the beginning of the academic journey for the 955 students across various engineering, science, and architecture disciplines.
