Dhaka, Sep 17 (V7N) – The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament Election Authority have addressed allegations of ballots being pre-marked in favor of Shibir candidates Farhad and Sadiq Kayem at TSC polling centers during the DUCSU elections.
According to a notice signed by Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, on September 9 around 11 am, a student entering the booth at TSC reported that her ballot already had marks in favor of two candidates. The marked ballot was confiscated and preserved separately, and the student was provided a new ballot to cast her vote.
Following the incident, a university-appointed committee was asked to investigate. Statements from three teachers present at the scene confirmed the account provided by the center head, and no violations of election rules were observed at that time.
However, video footage later showed that the student entered and exited the booth four times, spending intervals ranging from 2 seconds to over 10 minutes inside. DUCSU officials said her repeated entries and interactions with multiple people appeared suspicious, and the matter is now being seriously investigated.
The Chief Returning Officer emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and all measures are being taken to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
