Dhaka, Sep 16 (V7N) – Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have accused diploma holders of planning violent actions after leaving the negotiation table. They emphasized that ordinary citizens should not be held hostage, including through highway blockades, to press demands.

The BUET students made the remarks at a press conference held at the BUET cafeteria on Tuesday (Sept 16) afternoon.

During the event, the students reiterated their three-point demands, including that a minimum B.Sc. Engineering degree should be required for appointment in grade 9 positions. They also called for strict legal action against anyone who falsely uses the title “Engineer” without holding a B.Sc. Engineering degree.

The students alleged that diploma holders are abandoning dialogue and inciting unrest, including road blockades. “We do not support holding people hostage to achieve demands,” BUET students stated firmly.
