Dhaka, Sep 10 (V7N) – Allegations of bias have surfaced against the Election Commission of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) following Tuesday’s polls. Two candidates – Md. Sajib Hossain, a resident student of Shahidullah Hall contesting for the post of central member, and Rakib Hossain Gazi, vying for Health and Environment Secretary from the ‘DUCSU for Change’ panel – jointly raised concerns at a press conference held at Madhur Canteen on Wednesday (Sept 10).
Sajib Hossain claimed that his vote had “disappeared.” He alleged that the GS candidate he voted for at Curzon Hall Center received zero votes in the final tally. “Even though I voted according to the rules, the result showed otherwise. If my vote was cancelled, the commission must explain why,” he demanded.
Rakib Hossain Gazi, meanwhile, accused the Election Commission of failing to maintain neutrality. He alleged that irregularities occurred in distributing candidate slips and that some groups received undue advantages during the campaign. “The commission treated candidates differently, and one group was favored over others,” he said.
Both candidates announced that they would file written complaints with the university administration, urging a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities.
