Lalmonirhat, June 12 (V7N) — Indian authorities have once again attempted to push their citizens into Bangladesh through the Lalmonirhat border. However, the attempt was thwarted by the swift action of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local residents. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday (June 12).

According to BGB and local sources, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) tried to forcibly push five Indian nationals, including women and children, through the Baro Masjid border area of Dolapara in Hatibandha upazila. Simultaneously, another seven individuals were reportedly pushed toward Bangladesh through the Jhalangi border of Serampur union in Patgram upazila.

Thanks to the vigilance of the BGB and the assistance of local villagers, both groups were prevented from entering Bangladesh and were subsequently sent back to Indian territory. Following the incident, the 61st BGB Battalion has formally called for a flag meeting with the BSF to address the matter.

This is not an isolated incident. Earlier, on May 28, the BSF made an unsuccessful attempt to push in 58 Indian nationals, including women and children, through various border points in Lalmonirhat. Subsequently, eight individuals believed to be part of that push-in attempt were detained at Burimari and Patgram railway stations. All of them claimed to be residents of different districts in India’s Assam state.

Local residents and authorities have expressed strong condemnation of such repeated attempts, emphasizing the need for diplomatic intervention to prevent further violations of border protocols.
