Dhaka, May 07 (V7N) — The International Crimes Tribunal-1 is scheduled to issue an order today (May 7) on framing charges against 28 accused, including former Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, and former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman, in a crimes against humanity case linked to incidents in Mohammadpur during the July mass uprising.

The order is expected to be delivered by the tribunal’s judicial panel headed by International Crimes Tribunal-1.

According to case details, four leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League Mohammadpur police station unit are currently under arrest and in jail, while the remaining accused are absconding.

The prosecution and defense completed hearings on the formal charge framing on April 26. Prosecutors presented three charges related to incidents that allegedly took place on July 18 and 19, 2024, in the Mohammadpur area of the capital.

During the hearing, prosecutors also referred to an alleged phone conversation involving Taposh and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The tribunal was additionally told that video footage showed the presence of several accused at the scene during the incidents under investigation.
