Dhaka, Sep 05(V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thundershowers in different parts of the country over the next three days. Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in some areas during this period.
The department also said that day and night temperatures across the country may remain nearly unchanged.
According to the 72-hour forecast issued from 6 pm on Friday (September 4), light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions during the next 24 hours. Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur at some places.
During the following 24 hours from 6 pm on Saturday (September 5), light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds may occur at many places in the same eight divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also possible at some locations.
From 6 pm on Sunday (September 6), rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds may occur at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at some places in Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur at some places.
The Meteorological Department said the distinct low-pressure area over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas may gradually weaken and merge with the axis of the monsoon. The monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and remains moderately active over the north Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, Cox's Bazar recorded the country's highest rainfall of 195 mm in the 24 hours until Friday. Rajshahi recorded the highest temperature at 34.5 degrees Celsius, while Sylhet recorded the lowest at 23.5 degrees Celsius.
