Dhaka, Jan 17 (V7N) — Although the intensity of winter has eased slightly in recent days due to occasional afternoon sunshine in some areas, cold conditions are expected to intensify again during the evenings and nights, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

In its 120-hour (five-day) weather forecast issued at 6:00 pm on Friday (January 16), the BMD said the extended portion of the subcontinental high-pressure system is positioned over West Bengal and adjoining areas, while the seasonal low-pressure system remains over the south Bay of Bengal, extending into the northeast Bay.

Next 24 Hours

For the next 24 hours from 6 pm Friday, weather across the country is expected to remain dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies. A mild cold wave is currently sweeping over Dinajpur, Panchagarh and Chuadanga, which may continue.
Light to moderate fog may form in some areas from late night to morning. During this period, night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged, while day temperatures may rise slightly.

Saturday (January 17)

From 6 pm Saturday, the weather is likely to remain dry with partly cloudy skies. Moderate to dense fog may occur in parts of the river basin areas, while light to moderate fog may develop elsewhere. Night temperatures may remain almost unchanged, with a slight rise in daytime temperatures.

Sunday (January 18)

Similar weather conditions are expected from 6 pm Sunday, with moderate to dense fog in river basin regions and light to moderate fog elsewhere. While night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged, day temperatures may decrease slightly.

Monday (January 19)

For the next 24 hours from 6 pm Monday, dry weather with partly cloudy skies is forecast. Fog conditions are expected to persist, especially in river basin areas. Both night and day temperatures are likely to remain almost unchanged.

Tuesday (January 20)

From 6 pm Tuesday, the weather is expected to remain dry with partly cloudy skies. Moderate to dense fog may occur in river basin areas, while other regions may experience light to moderate fog. Night and day temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

Extended Outlook

According to the extended five-day forecast, both night and day temperatures may gradually decrease, indicating a possible return of more intense winter conditions in the coming days.
