Dhaka, Jan 13 (V7N)- Cold wave conditions have been persisting across various parts of the country for the past two weeks, with three northern districts continuing to experience a mild cold wave today.
According to the regular morning forecast of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), a mild cold wave is currently sweeping over Panchagarh, Kurigram and Nilphamari, and it is likely to continue. The weather office also warned that light to moderate fog may form in different regions of the country from late night until morning.
The forecast said that night temperatures may drop slightly across the country, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
Meteorologists noted that the cold wave is unlikely to subside unless temperatures rise. Instead, temperatures may fall further from Wednesday, potentially causing the cold wave to intensify and spread to additional districts.
The lowest temperature in the country today was recorded at 7.5 degrees Celsius in Tentulia, located in the northern region. Meanwhile, Dhaka recorded a minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius.
Weather officials advised people, especially in northern areas, to take necessary precautions as colder conditions may worsen in the coming days.
