Dhaka, July 5 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chittagong, Khulna, and Barisal divisions over the next 24 hours. The forecast was issued in a press release signed by Dr. Md. Omar Faruk, Director (Forecast) of the department, on Saturday (July 5).

According to the statement, under the influence of the active southwest monsoon, rainfall between 44-88 millimeters (heavy rain) to more than 89 millimeters (very heavy rain) may occur at various locations in the three divisions starting from 10 AM today.

The Met Office also warned that the hilly areas of Chittagong division are at risk of landslides due to the anticipated heavy downpour. Additionally, parts of Chittagong city may experience waterlogging.

Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
