Dhaka, June 26 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and lightning across various parts of the country starting Thursday (June 26), due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
According to the five-day forecast signed by meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque, temporary light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in many places of Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions.
The forecast further states that moderate to heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places across the country. Day temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged during this period.
Low Pressure and Maritime Warnings
A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions, creating significant variations in air pressure. As a result, gusty to stormy winds are likely over the North Bay, adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh, and maritime ports.
The seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been asked to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 3.
Additionally, the BMD has advised fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
