Gazipur, Mar 16 (V7N)- Law enforcement agencies conducted an overnight raid in Tongi’s Mazar slum in Gazipur Metropolitan area, arresting several individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities. During the operation, authorities also recovered narcotics and locally made weapons.

The drive was carried out from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am on Sunday (March 15) with the participation of multiple teams from different agencies including **Gazipur Metropolitan Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

Police said that the Mazar slum had long been accused of being a hub for criminal activities such as drug dealing, theft, and robbery, prompting the authorities to conduct the special raid in the area.

Md. Israel Howlader, Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, said that houses in the slum were searched based on intelligence information about narcotics and criminal activity.

 “We searched all the houses in Mazar slum where there was information about drugs to see what was happening there. Many teams from different forces took part in the operation. Various pieces of evidence were recovered, and those involved in criminal activities were arrested,” he said.

Police also announced that special drives will continue in different slum areas of the metropolis to control the spread of drugs, theft, and other criminal activities.
