Dhaka, Mar 05 (V7N) – A major theft has been reported at a jewellery shop in the Khilgaon area of the capital, where a large quantity of gold and silver ornaments, along with cash, were allegedly stolen.
The incident took place at a shop named Asheke Rasul Jewellers located at Uttar Goran Tempu Stand in Khilgaon. The theft is believed to have occurred on Wednesday night (March 4).
According to the shop owner, he discovered the incident when he arrived to open the shop on Thursday morning (March 5). Upon entering the shop, he found that the cash counter and the safe had been broken.
The owner claimed that the thieves made away with approximately 75 bhari of gold ornaments, 150 bhari of silver ornaments, and Tk 1.40 lakh in cash. He also alleged that the culprits took away the shop’s CCTV footage, which could have contained evidence of the crime.
After receiving the information, members of law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene and began an initial investigation.
Police said that no case has been filed yet in connection with the incident. However, they added that efforts are underway to identify and bring those responsible for the theft to justice.
