Dhaka, Feb 09 (V7N)- The government has removed Mohammad Ejaz from the post of administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division, Suraiya Akhter Jahan, has been appointed as the new administrator in his place.

The move was formalized through a notification issued on Monday morning by Mahbuba Airin, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

According to the notification from the City Corporation-1 branch, Suraiya Akhter Jahan will serve as DNCC administrator until further orders under sub-section (1) of Section 25A of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024. She will exercise the powers and perform the duties of the DNCC mayor as an additional duty, alongside her current post, and will receive duty allowance as per the rules. No other financial or ancillary benefits will be provided.

Mohammad Ejaz, who had been appointed administrator on February 12 last year, is also the Chairman of the River and Delta Research Center. His removal comes after a travel ban was imposed against him on February 1 following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
