Dhaka, Jun 09 (V7N) — Despite the conclusion of Eid holidays, many city dwellers have yet to begin their return journey. Since Monday morning, bus terminals across Dhaka have remained crowded with people traveling to their native villages, as the flow of passengers heading out of the city continues to outpace those returning.
Many travelers said they intentionally delayed their trips until two days after Eid to avoid the usual congestion and discomfort. However, they still face difficulties, including complaints about scarce bus availability despite relatively empty roads and being charged higher fares than usual.
Passengers at the terminals reported that ticket counters frequently informed them of a lack of available vehicles, forcing some to pay extra to secure seats.
Meanwhile, a modest number of people have started traveling back to Dhaka after Eid celebrations with their families. However, the volume of returnees is comparatively low, and there is no significant rush or competition for seats on buses or trains.
