Dhaka, Apr 15, (V7N) - The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has announced a significant hike in the price of gold in the domestic market, reflecting a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market. According to a press release issued by the organization on Wednesday, the price of 22-carat gold has been increased by 2,216 taka per bhori, bringing the new price to a record 250,193 taka.

The organization stated that the new pricing structure became effective across the country from 10:00 am on Wednesday. Under the revised rates, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will now cost 250,193 taka, a move BAJUS attributes to the overall current market situation and the increasing cost of raw materials in the local sector.

The price adjustments have also affected other categories of the precious metal. The new price for 21-carat gold has been set at 238,820 taka per bhori, while 18-carat gold will now be sold at 204,703 taka per bhori. Furthermore, for gold refined through the traditional method, the price has been determined at 166,736 taka per bhori.

The official release further explained that the decision to hike prices was taken after observing the upward trend of pure gold prices in the local bullion market. BAJUS regularly adjusts these rates to maintain parity with the rising costs of pure gold, ensuring that the local jewelry industry remains aligned with current economic realities and supply chain shifts.
