Dhaka, Jan 30 (V7N) — After five consecutive price hikes, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has announced a reduction in gold prices in the domestic market, cutting rates by up to Tk 14,600 per bhori.

According to a BAJUS notification issued on Friday (January 30), the new prices came into effect from 10:45 am. Following the adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold of the best quality has fallen to Tk 271,363 per bhori, down from Tk 286,000, which was recorded just a day earlier—the highest gold price in Bangladesh’s history.

BAJUS said the price reduction was made due to a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.

Meanwhile, gold prices also fell in the international market. According to Goldprice.org, a widely used global gold and silver price tracking website, the price of gold dropped to around USD 5,200 per ounce on Friday morning, after crossing USD 5,550 per ounce on Thursday.

Under the revised rates in the local market:

  • 22-carat gold: Tk 271,363 per bhori

  • 21-carat gold: Tk 259,000 per bhori

  • 18-carat gold: Tk 222,024 per bhori

  • Traditional gold: Tk 182,833 per bhori

Silver prices have also been reduced. The updated prices are:

  • 22-carat silver: Tk 7,757 per bhori

  • 21-carat silver: Tk 7,407 per bhori

  • 18-carat silver: Tk 6,357 per bhori

  • Traditional silver: Tk 4,782 per bhori

Market observers say the adjustment reflects global price movements and may bring temporary relief to buyers following the recent sharp surge.
