Mongla, July 2 (V7N) — On the very first day of the 2025–26 fiscal year (July 1), Mongla Port’s jetties welcomed four foreign-flagged commercial vessels, continuing the successful performance of the previous fiscal year.
According to the Deputy Director (Board & Public Relations) of Mongla Port Authority, the 2024–25 fiscal year saw the achievement of targets across multiple metrics, including foreign ship arrivals, cargo handling, container throughput, vehicle imports, and revenue collection.
On July 1, the following ships berthed as the port commenced operations for the new fiscal year:
Berth 5: Singapore-flagged MV Cota Restu, carrying 299 TEUs of containers.
Berth 6: Panama-flagged MT Hai Hong, loaded with chit-gudur (coal-flour).
Berth 7: Sierra Leone-flagged MV History Edward, transporting machinery for the Rooppur Power Plant.
Berth 9: Panama-flagged MV Prosperity, also carrying equipment bound for the Power Grid Company.
In addition to these four vessels, fourteen foreign ships are currently anchored within the port limits: seven at the harbour channel (Hardbaria), two in the base creek area, and one at the LPG jetty. These ships are transporting goods including power-plant machinery for both Power Grid and Rooppur projects, coal, chit-gudur, rice, fertilizer, clinker, LPG, stone, and cement raw materials.
The early arrival of multiple international shipments underscores Mongla Port’s vital role in Bangladesh’s import supply chain and economic activity.
