During the holy month of Ramadan, commercial banks nationwide will operate from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, with transactions available from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Previously, banking hours spanned 5.5 hours, starting at 10:00 am and concluding at 3:30 pm. The Bangladesh Bank issued a circular on Tuesday, March 5, announcing these revised timings.
In addition to adjustments in transaction hours, the office timings for banks during Ramadan will also shift. Instead of the current schedule of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, banks will operate from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm during the holy month.
These adjusted timings will be observed from Sunday to Thursday each week, with banking operations returning to regular hours after Ramadan. Despite a 15-minute break for Zohr prayers from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm, banking activities will continue internally to ensure uninterrupted service.
The start of Ramadan is anticipated to commence next week, pending the sighting of the moon, as per the Islamic Foundation.
