Thakurgaon, Sep 06 (V7N)- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has visited his home district Thakurgaon for the first time since assuming office as the country's 23rd President.
The President left Dhaka by helicopter on Sunday morning for a two-day visit to Thakurgaon. He landed at the Mohammad Ali Stadium ground around noon and was given a guard of honor at the Circuit House.
During the visit, President Mirza Fakhrul will pay respects at the graves of his father, former minister late Mirza Ruhul Amin, and mother Fatema Begum at the family graveyard in Senua Para.
He will then visit his residence in Kalibari. After lunch and a brief rest, he is scheduled to attend a reception organized by the civic committee at the Thakurgaon Government Boys High School grounds in the afternoon. He will spend the night at his residence.
On the second day of the visit, the President is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the proposed Thakurgaon University in the Jamalpur area of Sadar Upazila along the Thakurgaon-Pirganj road.
He will then visit his residence and the Circuit House before returning to Dhaka by helicopter.
