Cox's Bazar, Oct 21 (V7N) – State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque today said that his ministry has taken an initiative to bring sustainable biogas technology to the grassroots level in order to tackle the country's energy crisis effectively.
To this end, an action plan is being prepared to extend biogas plants to the remote areas of the country within the next two years, he said.
The state minister came up with the plan at the inauguration of a biogas plant, organised by the ministry in an area adjacent to the Link Road in Cox's Bazar, according to a ministry press release. He expressed his firm resolve to give the programme, which is currently being implemented on a small scale, a wide nationwide shape in the days ahead.
At the programme, two farmers were given loans of Tk 1.5 lakh each to encourage them to set up biogas plants. Speaking as the chief guest, the state minister said a booklet will be prepared to make the benefits and direct advantages of biogas easily understandable to the common people and it will be distributed at the field level to motivate farmers.
Expressing deep confidence in the strength of the youth, he said young people are the real driving force of the country and they will lead the days ahead and ensure the overall change and development of the country.
The state minister also said that, considering the demands of the time, the trades of the Youth Development Centres are being modernised. New employment is now being created through training and easy-term loan support in contemporary sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), freelancing, caregiving and mobile servicing. A plan has also been taken on how to increase commercial production and supply of biogas after meeting one's own household needs, he added.
Aminul said the government is working to take every service of youth development to the doorsteps of the most marginalised people of the country.
