Dinajpur, Oct 21 (V7N) – Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain has said every citizen of Bangladesh enjoys equal rights irrespective of religion and ethnicity, stressing that all share the identity of being Bangladeshi.

"There is no reason for anyone to consider themselves weak or a minority, as everyone is a citizen of Bangladesh and has equal rights," he said, calling for collective efforts to build a humane and inclusive Bangladesh.

The minister made the remarks while visiting Kadimnagar Sarbojanin Durga Puja Mandir in Ghoraghat municipality of Dinajpur and exchanging views with members of the Sanatan religious community today.

He said political parties should serve the people throughout the year rather than approach them only during elections. Referring to the absence of those guarding Durga Puja mandaps this year, he said some had been deployed before last year's election to gain support from the Hindu community but were no longer visible. "So, do they engage in politics only for power?" he asked.

Dr Zahid highlighted the BNP's consistent track record of public service, noting that the party's dedication to the people spans both its time in opposition and its tenure in government. He urged the public to assess the actions of political parties and called on BNP leaders and activists to strengthen public trust through welfare-oriented activities.

Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rubana Tanzin, local administration and police officials, BNP leaders, and Kadimnagar Sarbojanin Durga Mandir President Himangshu Kumar Saha, alongside local dignitaries and party activists were present, among others.
